Trip Down Memory Lane

I made this with a kit I'd bought for my birthday in August from Kathy at Paper Phenomenon.  It's the Journey Suitcase.  It's using the BoBunny Etc papers and I added some turquoise for color accents.  This is a challenging project to say the least with a lot of steps but turned out great.  It's a KEEPER!  I enjoy making these home decor pieces to house our mini albums.  Kathy has a Ustream class on this and sells the pattern on her blog.  Check it out!

My 1st Shadowbox Mini

This is a box I made from black chipboard.  I got the idea from Paper Phenomenon's Hybrid and BAM project.  I used the beautiful paper, Mariposa from DCWV.  I LOVE how this turned out.  I have a YouTube Video showing it and my 2nd version.  I made the peach roses, and stick pin.  I have a few charms dangling for movement and added interest.  This will be for dedicated to the people who have flitted thru my life and made a special impact on me.  Check you my video for more details.

The "Not So Mini" Mini Album Guides

Here's the guides for my YouTube Tutorial on the "Not So Mini" Album.  I have two versions of this mini album.  First one uses double sided card stock.  The Second one has the pages made from solid black card stock with single sided card stock cut and matted on the pages.  There is VERY LITTLE waste on this mini design and there's a LOT of space for full size photos plus embellishments.  Hope you try this design and please let me know how they turn out.  Or if you have more questions.  There's a link to my YouTube Videos at the bottom of my blog so check them out.  Please feel free to leave comments.  I'd love to hear from you.

"The Rose" Page Cutting Guide

Hello again!  Here's the cutting guide for "The Rose" page.  This is using one sided card stock and as you see there is very little waste.  I have a YouTube Tutorial on making this page.  Hope you'll try it and let me know what you think. Thanks, Cindyroo

"The Rose" Mini Album

I designed this mini from inspiration from Laura Denison of Following the Paper Trail and Kathy of Paper Phenomenon.  Each page including the flap and insert is made from 1 sheet of 12 x 12 single sided card stock.  I used the DCWV Garden Party from JoAnn's using the pinks and browns in the collection.  The white side of the flap I stamps journal spots  since this photo was taken.  I used Walnut stain Distress Ink for all pages and inserts.  This album is designed to hold 4x6 photos.  It can be so hard to fill smaller albums.  Shrinking and cropping some of our photos can take so much away from the photos.  Not to mention as I get older, it's harder to see what's in a small photo.  Memories may not fade, but our eyesight sure can!

PS Please  note I've added a bar at the bottom for a direct link to my YouTube videos.  I will be doing a video on this one and hope to do a tutorial too.  Let me know what you think!

More Bottled Fairies

My sister, Amy came out for a short vacation begining of April.  She's crafty like me and I taught her how to make mini albums and bottled fairies.  We had such a great time.  2 days shopping/sight seeing and 2 days crafting.   We did manage to sleep and eat abit here and there.
This is one of Amy's.  She's adopted a Mary Englebrite saying..."When all else fails, Twirl!"  She made the wire corkscrew and added the ruffles to make you think of tutus.  The background is even done in lines to give the feeling of motion.  SOO CUTE!

I finally caught the Shrink Fairy...You know the one that lives in your closet and sews all your clothes smaller!  She's perched on a wooden spool of thread and I tossed some thread and buttons in the bottom of the bottle.  She even had a threaded needle in her hand.  I glued the lace to the bottom to look like a doily and added buttons.  I cut apart a tape measure for the ribbon to fit the theme of this fairy.  Very happy to finally have caught her.  Maybe my clothes will fit better...lol

This one I made for my mom.  It's an old B/W photo of me!  Yep, I'm a fairy now!!!!( Well, I was covered with pixie glitter most of the weekend.)   I used glossy accents and glitter on my dress.  Added wings I'd printed on vellum paper.  Added pearl bling, daisies, bachlor buttons and butterflies.  All hold special meaning to me.    I think I'll search for other family members old photos to covert into fairies for special gifts.

Family Treasures Mini Album

This one I call Family Treasures.  I found these wonderful envelopes at Micheals on clearance. No flaps on them but LOVED the detailed cut edge of them.  Then I went to Hobby Lobby and discovered their new line, Affinity.  There was a printed paper pad,  Solid cardstock that was textured and white core.  Plus every embellishment you could imagine to coordinate with it.  LOVED the colors.  I broke out my cricut to cut some mats and tags. Did some dry embossing with my Texture Boutique.  I punched out flowers, added charms, distressed the cardstock and inked them with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. Bounded with my Cinch.  Oh, and I'd stamped some too.  Basically, I used ALL my toys on this one.  Have to justify owning so many toys right???  Used a brown velvet ribbon and a buckle slide for a simple but elegant closure.  Added charms in amongst the flowers.  I really LOVE how this turned out.  I'll be posting more about it on YouTube later today.

More Captured Fairies!

I'm so addicted to these bottle fairies!  Keep coming up with more and more ideas for them.  Thinking they will be this years Christmas gifts for family and friends.    This first one here is "Posie".  Loved this carefree dancer and the smile on her face makes me smile.

This next one is "Belinda-The Green Thumb Fairy.  Used bits of pastel tissue for the background so when the light shines thru you think of a rainbow.

Final one is the Morning Dew Fairy.  I'd collected morning dew to add to my night cream and that evening I found this tiny little fairy in the bottle.  When I asked her name, she said "Le Me Ou".  But then again that's all she keeps saying..... I don't think I'll ever let her out.  I believe she has something to do with water weight gain.  I've lost 5 lbs since her capture.....  LOL  Yes, I'm getting a bit crazy about these fairies.  But I'm having so much fun.

Captured Fairy in A Bottle

How many times have you pulled a shirt out of the closet only to find it missing a button?  It was happening way too much around here so I set a trap and caught the Button Thief Fairy.  Ain't she cute?
No, really I'm in a Bottle Fairy Swap with Lil Scrap Of Heaven and this is the one I made my partner, Leslie Owen, who requested pink and green.  I used Lindy's Hottie Pootie spray on tear away interfacing for a mulberry paper effect on the jar background.  I glued buttons in the bottle and sewed buttons on a ribbon glueing it to the side.  I glued a scissor charm to the vintage photo and added wings I'd printed out on velumn paper.  Lightly tinted her dress and wings with pink chalk ink.  I made the roses by spraying Lindy's on one side of a mauve cardstock.  Of course, blinged it out with trims and beads.  Hope Leslie likes it.  I'm hooked on these fairies...Except to see more of these type things to come.

Off Work Till April

I had foot surgery Feb 18th and will be off work till mid April.  I'm hoping I'll be able to do several projects soon as I can walk without the crutches.  Not coordinated enough on the crutches to carry supplies and walk.  I tried to get hubby to get me pigma pen the other day off my other craft table and that was a frustrating 5 minutes.....Well, it took me that long to finally get across the room to get it myself!  God forbid I ask him to bring me some card stock!  Besides I don't want him to actually KNOW how much paper I have in my stash!  So won't ask him to fetch and carry.  I have a wheeled desk chair but it can't get me around in my closet so I'm in limbo for a bit. Then watch out!  Because all I can do right now is design and watch YouTube and Ustream.  Oh, and shop online.  Wait how will I hide those packages I can't carry in....hmmm need to find aid there.  Hmmm....Grandkids?  Other suggestions?

Just The Girls Mini

This mini is for my "Just The Girls" Vacation with my Mom and sisters.  One down- 5 more to go....
I used K & Company "Nature" Collection and used my Cinch to bind it.  I LOVE MY CINCH!!! It's super easy to use.  Saves me loads of time and being able to pick and choose what holes to punch really gives me lots of possibilites.  There are a lot of different pages in this one.  I used a lot of pockets and punches too plus many interactive pages.  It's a 6 X 6 page size so plenty of room for photos and journalling.  It's my salute to all those papercrafters on YouTube and Ustream that keep my creative juices flowing.
This is also my first attempt at a YouTube Video of my own.   So please forgive the shaking camera and the many Ummmm's.  I'll get better..... :)  Let me know if you have any questions or comments.

New Toy Just Arrived

It's here!  I'm so excited!  My Cinch has just arrived.  I quickly did a scap pad to test it and WOW- Perfect!!  It will really add to my Minis I think. Punching perfectly lined up holes in record time. Plus I can pick and choose what holes I want to punch so I can still use binding rings too.
So now I'm feverishly working on 6 minis for our Just the Girls Vacations with  my Mom and sisters. I designed the page styles a while back.  I bought the K & Company "Susan Winget Nature" papers and a few accessories before Christmas with these minis in mind.   Will post pictures soon.  Next I'm going to get a Web cam and will try my hand at You Tube videos.  So those minis maybe my 1st video.....
I'm having so much fun!

Wavy Envelope Mini

Hello...Just finished another mini.  This is a Wavy Envelope Mini from a pattern of Laura Denison's on Following the Paper Trail. This is a YouTube video pattern from a while ago.  I used gold metallic #10 envelopes from Michaels.  The paper is just that paper from a Large pad I've had a while called Simply Delightful by Minds Eye.  Love the colors of it and the simple patterns.  I punched flowers to match for tags and inside covers embellishments.  I also inked the edges of the tags and mats  for an aged look.  It was an easy mini pattern and fairly quick to do.  I'll be adding ribbons and fibers to the rings I think.  I'll sleep on it and look tomorrow to see if it needs more dressing.

Accordian Minis

This one is for a coworker.  Got the idea from a book Mini Books  Make it in Minutes by Roxi Phillips.  Cut words using SCAL and my cricut.
This one is of my grandson, Logan.  He'd taken Mr Potato Head out to play in the snow.  Used Winter Woodland cartridge for words.  Penguin is from Joys Of the Season cartridge but modified on DS for a cuter look.  This is chipboard hinged with medical fabric tape, painted edges with Lindy's Starburst Stain and covered with glittery paper.  Some I made using Lindy's Starburst stains and sprays.  LOVE this one.  It's a keeper.

This is another gift for  coworker.  Used K and Co Jubilee.  Focusing on the purples and greens but thought it was too busy for printed photo mats so just did white and Martha Stewart punches.  Added flowers for more dimension.
These are easy to make and great for displaying.  Will make a lot more of this type.

Wine Tour Mini Album

We've been going on tours of wineries and decided to make a Wine tour mini album.  I printed out journalling cards for each page to list dates, who went with us, what we thought of the place, what we bought and our favorite wines.  I used the Faux Paper bag Album pattern from Laura Denison, Following the Paper Trail.  Each page is a pocket with the connectors making a short pocket for the journalling cards. So lots of room for photos & wine lists.  I used K & Co Que Serera paper for the old world traveler feel & inking and distressing each page.  I've used this pattern to make "Road Trip" Minis too.  If you haven't tried a mini yet, check out YouTube for some ideas.  Laura is one of my favorites and she's designed A LOT of them.   I find her very inspiring.

Sea World Wall Quilt

My sister emailed me photos to make a quilt for my niece for Christmas.  She loves dolphins and the pictures were from a trip to Sea World with her sons.  I came up with the wall hanging design. I dyed the background fabic from a white fabric with silver specks to add sparkle to the water.  I printed the photos on fabric & used iron on vinyl to add glossy effect of bubbles. Then appliqued them with iridescent thread.   The large dolphin (bottom left)  I designed from clip art using my designer software for my Viking Designer SE.  It's the largest design I've ever done & took me most of a day to do but it really turned out nice.  The other dolphin applique design was from Embroidery Library.  The Sea Turtle was from JuJu Designs.  I stitched fun fur yarn for the seaweed & finished the edges wavy with 2 strands of multicolored yarn for added texture and interest.  It was a fun project that I was thrilled with how it turned out.  You know how you design something in your head, but then in translation of that idea to fabric or paper can be disappointing or frustrating.  This one just flowed, step by step.  The hardest part was printing the photos.  Needed to adjust the saturation & contrast plus added the circle soft focus around each photo to add to the bubble effect.  It was a fun challenge & they loved it.

Alternative To Ceramic Tiles

Vinyl on ceramic tile is very popular but costly to ship and hard to hang on the wall.  So I tried the peel n stick floor tiles & guess what- worked like a dream!  Home Depot and Lowes have a great selection at half the price of ceramic.  I found these great 12 X 12 document frames (yes, the frames have glass) at Hobby Lobby for $9.99 but usually they are 50% off on sale every other wk.  They really look great and I've spray painted the black frame if I do another color.  So next time you play with vinyl....try vinyl on vinyl tiles.  You'll like it.
Monograms were from My Vinyl Designer.  Cut on my Cricut Expression using SCAL program.  These made great Christmas gifts.

A New Year and A New Adventure for me!

Fabric Covered Mini Album

All Paper Paper Bag Album

Used Digistamps from Bug A Boo

Welcome.  I'm creating my 1st blog!  I've been surfing others for a while now.  Finally decided since I'm not getting any younger,  I'd give it a try.  I do a lot of crafts but paper crafts are one of my main stays.  Recently I was laid up with a bad foot so I discovered mini albums.  Since I had a sister and sisterinlaw turning 50, I came up with this.  I used Bug A Boo Digital Stamps that I colored on my computer in Photo elements.  They were the basic paper bag mini's but the purse design was my concept.  Hope you enjoy the photos.
